Watch the Video: How to update Flash Player
Flash Player, also known as Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave Flash, is a free software developed by Adobe Systems. It is commonly used as a web browser plug-in to view content that was created on the Adobe Flash platform. Such content includes streaming audio and video. Flash Player was required to view YouTube content until Google made the move to default instead to HTML5 in January, 2015. For the past five years, the option to view YouTube content using HTML5 existed, but the default was Flash Player.
Updating Adobe Flash Player is not the most straightforward process even for the most experienced Mac users. Security vulnerabilities with Adobe Flash have caused many to uninstall Flash altogether. Nevertheless, many popular sites still use Flash and uninstalling it can be inconvenient and cumbersome.
To continue viewing Flash content, update to a later version of Adobe Flash Player: Click the Download Flash button. Safari opens the Adobe Flash Player page on the Adobe website. Follow the instructions on the Adobe website to download and install the latest version of the plug-in. If Flash isn't detected, download and install it then repeat the test. Troubleshooting Flash Player. Adobe has a second website dedicated to testing and troubleshooting issues with Flash. Visit the Flash Player Help page to check if Flash Player is installed on your computer and enabled for your specific browser.
For the safety and security of your computer system, and also for the stability of web content you encounter that requires Adobe Flash Player, it is always best to update Flash Player to keep your installation current. Flash Player is included with Chrome & Edge
Certain web browsers, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, already have Flash Player built-in. As such, Chrome will automatically update itself when new versions of Flash Player are available. Nonetheless, it is always a good practice to check for updates yourself as you are ultimately responsible for keeping yourself safe while online.

Although Google’s move to default YouTube content to HTML5 meant a significant reduction in the necessity for Flash Player, its need still remains. Other content, such as advertisements, rich Internet media, and some web-based applications, still require Flash Player in order to view them. HTML5 is a new web standard with wide support, where Flash Player is a proprietary software controlled by Adobe. In the wake of a rash of security vulnerabilities requiring out-of-cycle updates for the Flash Player plug-in, users requiring Flash Player should remain vigilant about keeping theirs current.

Get Support. Adobe Flash Player Update removal instructionsWhat is Adobe Flash Player Update?
'Adobe Flash Player Update' is a deceptive pop-up displayed by a malicious website, which is often visited inadvertently. Users are redirected by potentially unwanted adware-type programs (PUPs). Adware is then likely to infiltrate systems without users' permission. Furthermore, these apps deliver intrusive online advertisements and collect various user/system information.
The 'Adobe Flash Player Update' pop-up states that Adobe Flash Player is out-of-date and must be updated. Be aware, however, that this pop-up is not genuine and attempts to trick users to install. Rather than updating Adobe Flash Player, set-ups install a number of additional PUPs. Therefore, never trust these pop-ups or update your installed applications using third party tools - this behavior can lead to high-risk computer infections. As mentioned above, adware-type applications deliver various intrusive advertisements such as banners, pop-ups, coupons, and so on. To achieve this, developers employ a 'virtual layer' (a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any site). Thus, displayed ads often conceal underlying content, significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience. In addition, they might redirect to malicious websites - even accidental clicks can result in high-risk computer infections. Another downside is information tracking. Adware-type apps often gather information such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, search queries, URLs visited, and pages viewed. The data might be personally identifiable and shared by developers with third parties who misuse private details to generate revenue. Therefore, the presence of including Call Technical Support Immediately, Internet Security Damaged, and Your Windows Computer Has Been Blocked. These are just some examples from a long list. Claims that the system is damaged in certain ways, and all of these other errors, are fake. Cyber criminals attempt to trick victims into calling and paying for services that are not needed. All adware-type applications are very similar. By offering 'useful features', PUPs often trick users into believing that they are legitimate and useful. In fact, these applications only deliver intrusive ads and collect personal information.

How did adware install on my computer?
Adware is often distributed using a deceptive marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of PUPs with regular software. Developers know that users often rush the download/installation processes and skip most steps. Therefore, bundled programs are concealed within the 'Custom/Advanced' section of these processes. By skipping this section, users expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
There are two simple steps you should take to prevent system infiltration by PUPs. Firstly, analyze each download/installation step using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. Secondly, decline offers to download/install third party software. The key to computer safety is caution.
